Kasey: Resident in Counseling – Therapist for The Wise Family
Kasey is a mom to two fabulous daughters. She loves to read, dance, be on or near the water and take naps in her spare time. Kasey’s knowledge of the school system and best practices for teaching and learning, paired with her honed counseling skills, leaves her expertly suited to work with children and their families. She believes in the power of play and that all behavior is communication.
Kasey works collaboratively with children, families, and schools to address challenging behaviors and/or feelings. Her main goal is to support children in building their own skills so they can regulate emotions, respond to challenges, and face the day with resilience and self-confidence.
She holds a Masters in Education for School Counseling and a Post Counseling Licensure Certificate in Community Counseling. She is actively pursuing licensure in Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Her professional journey has included teaching preschool, working at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum education programming department, and community counseling. Since 2006, she has worked in Fairfax County Public schools as an Elementary Professional School Counselor and as a Resource Counselor for School Counseling Services in FCPS’s central office.
Amanda: Therapist for The Wise Family
Amanda has called Alexandria home for most of her life. Her ideal vacation is a week at the beach with a good book (or six). She enjoys cooking and baking however she usually gives away most of the treats to her friends and family. Although she does not have her own dog she is an enthusiastic puppy aunt! In her free time you might find Amanda around the fire pit catching up with her friends or scouting new places to photograph.
Amanda completed her undergraduate degree in Social Work along with minors in Family Studies and Criminal Justice at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. She is a proud Duke Dog alumnus and followed her time at JMU by earning a Masters degree in Social Work from VCU. Richmond introduced Amanda to one of her great loves, Sugar Shack Donuts, which has thankfully since expanded to Alexandria. Amanda recently became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has spent the last 3 years working as a Therapeutic Day Treatment Counselor in an elementary school setting. She hopes to someday become certified in play therapy.
Dominique: Therapist for The Wise Family
Dominique is from New York and never misses the US Open. She enjoys traveling, exercising, spending time with friends and family in her free time. She hopes to combine her love of tennis and travel by attending all the Grand Slams. Dominique’s biggest accomplishment is being the first in her family to earn a doctorate.
Dr. Dominique Adkins, Ed.D, LPC, NCC, ACS is a licensed professional counselor and approved clinical supervisor. After completing her undergraduate work at Georgetown University (HOYA SAXA!), Dominique obtained her Ed.D in Counselor Education & Supervision and M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Marymount University. Dominique has multicultural and positive psychology research background with vast clinical and assessment experience working in both residential and outpatient settings with clients of all ages with co-occurring disorders. She is currently full time online faculty for the Counselor Education and Supervision doctoral program and Clinical Mental Health masters program at Grand Canyon University.
Kelsey: Resident in Counseling – Therapist for The Wise Family
Kelsey is a mom to two energetic girls who love to sing and dance their way through life. She is an avid college football fan. She especially loves the Oklahoma Sooners, and thankfully her husband has become quite the fan as well. Growing up as a military brat cultivated a love of travel that continues to this day.
Kelsey wishes that chips and salsa were its own food group. Her favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip, but a close second is apple cider sorbet from a local Alexandria ice cream establishment.
Kelsey earned her BA from the University of Oklahoma. She finished her master’s degree in Professional Counseling at Liberty University in May 2018. She is currently a Resident in Counseling at The Wise Family.
Tim: Evaluator for The Wise Family
Mr. Tim is an avid Washington Nationals, Redskins and Capitals fan. He has never met a meal he didn’t like with the
exception of liver and onions, which he will ban if he ever gains a position of power and/or discovers an island. He hopes to someday watch a baseball game from Boston’s famed Green Monster and attend a day game at Wrigley Field in Chicago. His proudest accomplishment has been raising his two children and watching them grow into the stellar young adults they are today.

g to independent schools throughout the greater Washington DC area. With a M.A. in C
linical Psychology from Towson University, “Mr. Tim” works full time for the Department of Juvenile Justice as the Court Psychologist for the 31st District Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court in Manassas, VA.
Lynlee: Evaluator for The Wise Family
Lynlee Tanner Stapleton, Ph.D currently lives in Alexandria after two decades of hopping around the West, East and Gulf Coasts. She loves to travel and has been to 5 of the 6 inhabited continents.She spends most of her “spare” time chasing around her two young children and attempting to fit in a yoga class or two.
Lynlee is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in the assessment of child development and early learning and behavior. She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed clinical training at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University and Boston Children’s Hospital. Lynlee has experience working with children of all ages with a range of learning, mental and physical health and psychosocial needs. She is passionate about identifying each child’s unique profile of abilities and challenges and takes a holistic approach, considering the family, school, and social contexts as powerful areas of influence.
Amy S.: Patient Happiness Team Leader and Office Assistant
Amy is a mom to three beautiful children, loves sushi any day of the week, and has been known to impersonate a monkey (very well, may we add) at times. She is proficient in Spanish and loves photography, traveling and reading in her spare time. As “the other Amy”, Amy Sosa keeps our practice running smoothly and we couldn’t do the work we do with families without her!
Amy Sosa graduated summa cum laude with a B.S.B.A. in Marketing and a concentration in International Business from Appalachian State University. With a strong background in marketing and administrative support, Amy has gained experience working in radio, education, and the sign and graphics industries.
