Confidence Club: Social Skills Group for Kids

Good social skills are the key to unlocking your child’s full potential…at home, at school, and with friends. For 3rd, 4th & 5th Graders. Led by our experienced child therapists Amanda Beyland, LCSW and Kelsey Yeager, Wise Family Counseling Intern, who will guide kids through hands-on skill building activities to boost confidence, improve self-control, manage anxious feelings, and enhance social skills.

YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN:

  • How to manage anger and resolve conflict at home & at school
  • Deal with social stress and cope with anxious feelings
  • Create healthy friendships and build self-confidence in social situations
  • How to ask for help when they need it, be assertive, and express themselves in respectful and appropriate ways
  • To identify their unique anxiety & anger triggers and build skills to manage all of their feelings effectively

Hosted by The Wise Family and Lipsett Learning Connection, this group provides hands-on social skills training.  This series will target essential skills such as problem solving, navigating how to share materials, and how to ask for help from peers and adults.

Game Lab Group for Kids

This group lets your child learn and practice social skills while involved in highly engaging, meaningful tasks. Hosted by The Wise Family and Lipsett Learning Connection, this group provides hands-on social skills training.  This series will target essential skills such as problem solving, navigating how to share materials, and how to ask for help from peers and adults.

Cooperation and Collaboration Group for Kids

This group is targeted for children between the ages of 8-11 years old who may have difficulty in one or more of the following areas:
*Developing a plan and following it through
*Managing emotions when things do not go as planned
*Accepting ideas from others when working in a group
*Sharing materials

This group targets essential skills such as problem solving, navigating how to share materials, and how to ask for help from peers and adults. Each week the group will be presented with a challenge and they will navigate working together towards success.

Kindergarten Jumpstart Camp:

Kindergarten Jumpstart is geared for kids who are entering kindergarten in the fall of 2018. There will be many opportunities for art, movement, songs, stories, and play! The class will also address a variety of important academic components that your child will experience the first quarter of school:

-Sitting at a table to do short spurts of independent work
-Waiting your turn to share in a group setting
-How to follow simple two or three step directions
-Meeting new friends
-How to better express their feelings
-Letter recognition
-Letter sounds
-Number recognition
-Name writing

Each child will receive a personalized goal sheet with areas of focus to maximize readiness for the upcoming year. We will do all of this in a fun, action-packed way!

Teen Talk: Group Therapy for Teens

Do you know any teens who struggle with controlling emotions? Many teens don’t have the skills needed to cope with strong emotions and to make them manageable for daily living.

Group therapy is great source of support and growth for teens. The Wise Family has launched an ongoing Adolescent DBT support group! The group is designed to educate on emotions, reactions, and the skills one can use to cope, self-soothe, improve communication skills and overall mental health.

Teen Talk is a continuous group and will meet weekly on Monday from 6pm – 7pm. You can join in at any time & any teens (grades 8-12) may participate.
