Amy Fortney Parks brings with her over 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents and families as both an educator and psychologist. But her most valuable lessons have been learned in the daily parenting of four children! She is passionate about families and encouraging parents to enjoy the journey their families are on together! She is also a “brainiac” and strives to help everyone she works with understand how their own unique brain works to encourage their own WISE growth.
I am the founder and Executive Director of Clinical and Assessment Services for WISE Mind Solutions, LLC in Alexandria, Virginia. I am also a pretty kick-hiney parent consultant for families across the country through The Wise Family. I have a Masters Degree in Psychological Services and am actively working towards the completion of a Doctorate in Educational Psychology. My focuses include individual and group counseling, educational testing and assessment, as well as family consulting. I have a crazy amount of experience in the areas of anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation and ADHD. I also provide educational consulting services to families, parent groups, local independent schools and public systems. I have also been thrilled to provide workshops for a growing number of organizations including the Virginia Counseling Association, the Virginia Psychological Association, MARFY, the Center for Adoption Services and Education and the Brain Injury Association of Maryland. More information about all of this is available on my newborn baby website, www.thewisefamily.com.
And, as I mentioned earlier, I am also the often-crazed, deeply blessed and over-scheduled mother of four children between the ages of 13 and 21. I am a native of Alexandria, Virginia and live 2 blocks from the home I grew up in – never straying farther than 2 miles from the “mother-ship”. In my spare time, I love to read teen fiction (but right now it is Game of Thrones which no self-respecting teen would actually read when they could watch the show), as well as cook (eat) and travel.
I am anxious to learn more about your questions, worries, fears, and achievements! I want to hear from you! What do you do in your spare time (do you have spare time?) and what do you dream for your family? I want you to join our WISE Family! That’s MY dream! Please reach out and contact me ANYTIME through my website, our fabulous email group, or any of our many social media outlets. I can’t wait to hear from you!
With love from “WISE AND WILD MOMMA”,

Hello
We are looking for some counseling for our son. He has done counseling w a few other therapists due to our newly divorced status. We are friendly now but it has been an arduous route. We have tried to shield Joseph fr the details. We want him to learn and develop better coping skills for anger management and for dealing with his unique sensitivities. We have introduced reward charts and are both very affectionate with him. We praise him a lot and do our best to listen to his needs. We would like some direction on how best to be a guide and give him what he needs to be happy in life today and in the future
